One billion souls…. still one gold

It’s a great pleasure to 110 crores of Indian’s that Abhinav Bindra’s rocking performance at Beijing that gifted gold to us.

_________________________________________________________________

While India celebrates its best-ever performance at the Olympics ,(Beijing 2008) it’s time to think about our achievement in perspective. India bagged three at Beijing still places us among the underachievers at the Games, not at the toppers!!!

We more than one millions, but still we are in behind .Can we say the gold is for India. Its only for him, we never gave any importance train them. so I think its quite wrong to say its ours.

Why is it so??

. Its because we are not trying to brought up new talents. India has been unable to make use of the infrastructure for nurturing talent that could translate into a better record at Olympics.

We cannot blame our athletes for their poor performance .In India only cricket and bollywood are the two glamours jobs. From kg students to old people, only one game is there, cricket! we are not giving any importance to tother sports, even to our national game.country is spending cores for cricket. They are simply avoiding other games.

Think ,2 yers back of our great hockey player, that india ever seen( even world) Dhyanchand’s the 100th bithday happened. What we did?? Does we at east conducted a tournament. Thats why India is back in sports. This is not in the case of hockey, its about all games. We have to remember the strike made by our hockey players due the ignorance of the government even after the winning of asia cup. even the film chakde india shows the clear picture of this.

The government doesn’t made any arrangements of the coming common wealth games and even for the national games. Then how can we think of olympic gold.

What Government can do??

First the government has to make enough stadium, or atlest training centers for them. Atleast one in a city.government have to make a law dat no one company can spend more than 30% money in a single game.the government should try to make sports as a career.

What we can do??

We can find talents and encourage them, providing infrastructure.

Smoking thrills but kills…..

Do you smoke? Have you ever stopped to think about how smoking is affecting your body and your life? Most teens are aware that people who have smoked for awhile can get lung cancer and emphysema and eventually die, but many don't know about all of the bad things that smoking can to them right now. If you smoke, you owe it to yourself to find out about the effects of smoking on your life now..

I had seen a video that showed in my college(amrita university)that how it affects brain. The 80%of the brain get destroyed..this video was produced to show the research results conducteted by doctors and scientists..We find many holes in the brain.. it was a new information for me…

Why is cigarette smoking bad ?

Everyone knows that smoking can cause cancer when you get older, but did you know that it also has bad effects on your body right now? A cigarette contains about 4000 chemicals, many of which are poisonous. Some of the worst ones are:

· Nicotine: a deadly poison

· Arsenic: used in rat poison

· Methane: a component of rocket fuel

· Ammonia: found in floor cleaner

· Cadmium: used in batteries

· Carbon Monoxide: part of car exhaust

· Formaldehyde: used to preserve body tissue

· Butane: lighter fluid

· Hydrogen Cyanide: the poison used in gas chambers

Every time you inhale smoke from a cigarette, small amounts of these chemicals get into your blood through your lungs. They travel to all the parts of your body and cause harm.

What do all these chemicals do in our body?

What it gives to our body?

As you might imagine, even small amounts of the poisonous chemicals in cigarettes can do bad things to your body. Smoking makes you smell bad, gives you wrinkles, stains your teeth, and gives you bad breath.

· Smokers get 3 times more cavities than non-smokers.

· Smoking lowers your hormone levels.

· When smokers catch a cold, they are more likely than non-smokers to have a cough that lasts a long time. They are also more likely than non-smokers to get bronchitis and pneumonia.

· Teen smokers have smaller lungs and a weaker heart than teen non-smokers. They also get sick more often than teens who don't smoke.

What happens to lungs when smokes?

Every time we inhale smoke from a cigarette, we kill some of the air sacks in your lungs, called alveoli. These air sacks are where the oxygen that you breathe in is transferred into your blood. Alveoli don't grow back, so when we destroy them,we have permanently destroyed part of our lungs. This means that we won't do as well in activities where breathing is important, like sports, dancing, or singing.

Smoking paralyzes the cilia that line your lungs. Cilia are little hairlike structures that move back and forth to sweep particles out of your lungs. When you smoke, the cilia can't move and can't do their job. So dust, pollen, and other things that you inhale sit in your lungs and build up. Also, there are a lot of particles in smoke that get into your lungs. Since your cilia are paralyzed because of the smoke and can't clean them out, the particles sit in your lungs and form tar.

.(I had a pesonal experience that many of my friends who participated and the winners of athletic meets in district and state wise sports meet said that ‘ after they started smoking they slowly lost thaeir breathe, they cant even run 200 meters at a streach, they cant even finish the taget in desired time even at school levels’ I had seen them suffering ).

*****Many teens like the feeling that smoking gives them. This good feeling is from the nicotine in the cigarettes. Some teens think smoking will help them lose weight or stay thin. Many teens also feel like smoking gives them a sense of freedom and independence, and some smoke to feel more comfortable in social situations.

· Nicotine can make feel good, but is feeling good (a feeling that can also get from healthy activities like playing sports) really worth all the bad things cigarettes do to us? If we smoke, we'll get sick more often. we also have the chance of getting lung cancer or emphysema, which will make us really sick for a long time before we die. If we are very sick, that good feeling from nicotine won't seem so important anymore.

· Smoking doesn't really help people lose weight. If that were true, every smoker would be thin.

· Smoking lowers your hormone levels.

A lot of people put off quitting smoking, thinking that they'll do it when the time is right. Only 5% of teens think they will still be smoking in 5 years. Actually, about 75% of them are still smoking more than five years later. If we smoke, it will never seem like the right time to quit and quitting will never be easy. The longer we smoke, the harder it will be to stop and the more damage we will do to your body.

reasons to quit sooner rather than later…

· Most teens would rather date a non-smoker.

· You'll save money if you quit smoking. A pack of cigarettes costs about $5.00. Even if you only smoke a couple packs a week, you're spending about $40 per month and $480 per year on smoking. Think of all the other things you could use that money for.

· You only have one pair of lungs. Any damage you do to them now will be with you for the rest of your life.

· The longer you smoke, the better your chances are of dying from it. One out of 3 smokers die from smoking and many more become very sick. Think about your friends who smoke. 1/3 of them will die from smoking if none of you quit

How to quit????

Use chewing gums or some other ways that cant make u bad.

U can find more resons to quit or how to quit at

Smoking can have serious effects on your life. The longer we smoke, the more damagewe do to your body and our health. Most people who begin smoking as teens say that they wish they had never started. The decision to start or continue smoking is all up to you and no one can make westop, but we should think really hard about whether it is the best thing for our body and our life

Chicken-a-la-Carte

It ’s a great effort taken by the director Ferdinand Dimadura to show the world that when millions of people have plenty to eat somewhere and there are millions who are there to collect the waste food thrown away by others . It was shocking when i heard that 10,000 people are dying everyday due to hunger .

In this film children eat the waste food which are wasted by us . At time of wasting the food we never think that there are someone to eat our waste. The scene which broke my heart was that ,they pray to the almighty for the food they have.

What we can do……..

We all know that we are wasting a lot of money in unnecessary things but we are not using a single paise for the poor people. If you are not able do that dont do it but you can do one thing that is you should never waste the food. For example after parties and all dont dump the food but you can give it to any charitable trust / orphanages anywhere you like where some children will eat that food happily and the prayers of those children will always there with you .

I really felt sad when seeing this movie... Its our duty to help the needy. Think of the fod that we waste daily in home and schools... Think of the food we waste at parties, marriaage functions..... In temples also (from my experience) i had seen many times that most of the authorties never give food to to the begers..Why?? They rare doing it for GOD's grace.. Think wll they get it.... NO never......Helping hand is much better than praying hands..God like it!!! dont waste that food... it will help the neeedy..

We all should be thankful to the God for giving us a Happy Life…

Lead INDIA.........

LEAD INDIA is a television initiative launched on India’s 60th Independence Day by Times of India Group in search of a new bold leader for India. Hosted by Anupam Kher, the program airs on STAR one every Saturday at 8:00 PM IST. Citizens of India aged between 25 and 45 can participate in the three-stage contest whose result will be a winner who will be a worthy contender for participating in India’s next assembly elections, besides bagging a seat on the leadership and politics course at Harvard University, and a corpus of Rs 50 lakh for pursuing a public-welfare project of choice.

Lead India is the sequel to the newspaper’s earlier India Poised initiative launched in January 2007. While India Poised celebrated India’s recent successes and its growing importance on the global radar, it also conducted a critical assessment of sectors where India failed to deliver. Public governance was on top of this list. Lead India, therefore, addresses that concern by offering the most deserving a shot at active politics while cutting short the regular long-winded, and often extremely frustrating, path up the political ladder. It is a hunt to identify new leaders for a new India, men and women with the vision and ability to empower India with the kind of political leadership that is so conspicuous by its absence.

A program with a similar name was also launched, much before The Times of India’s Lead India campaign, by Dr. Abdul Kalam, the then President of India, in the early 2000s.

In episode telecasted on Dece mber 20 2007, Kumaramangalam Birla and Akshay kumar joined the jury as celebrity judges. Saumya Mishra has left the contest due to personal reasons, hence only 7 contestants are left.

On 9 February 2008, the results were announced. R.K Mishra (Bangalore) won the contest against Devang Nanavati (Ahmedabad) with more number of votes and a sharp lead of 6-1 from the Jury of 7 judges. He was crowned as Lead India “Mahanayak” from Dr. A.P.j Abdul Kalam, the former president of India.

IN MY VIEW....

in my view these campaigns helped a lot.. but thinkh what extent they helped...

we have to change totally, there are may matters that why we are so behind...
1.corruption
2.terrorist attacks
3.national spirit
4.thought that india is ous
5.dont blame governments do maximum as we can
